Lens Construction
Construction:
Our general purpose windows are manufactured from UL flame rated switchgear high density plastics. This material is rated to 250 degrees C. for Higher temperature applications request aluminum bodies. All of our windows are built with captive hardware so that when you open the cover for viewing the screws stay in place and the cover rotates out of the way. Our windows are retained from the inside of the enclosure by multiple fixing screws (3 screws on 2” windows, 5 screws on 3” windows, 6 screws on 4” windows) and a thrust ring to help evenly distribute forces loaded onto the window. This makes it the most rugged mounting available. This speaks to a windows ability to withstand pressure build up.
Materials:
There are a number of infrared transmissive materials available. It is important to consider the application for the windows, the environment into which they will be installed, the size of the required windows and the capital budget. We believe that the IR Transmissive polymer window is a great fit for most predictive maintenance (pdm) low, medium and high voltage electrical equipment inspection applications. The window is not affected by moisture or low levels of acids or alkalis, it meets the standards set by IEEE for viewing panes in medium and high voltage electrical equipment (link to test results/ieee), it is cost effective allowing wide spread implementation and use of larger windows.
